On Tuesday 24 January I had the pleasure of delivering a two hour electroacoustic composition workshop for beginners at the University Centre Doncaster in Doncaster, UK.
Here we began to explore how to compose with sounds, in particular through the use of gesture and texture.
By the end of the workshop each student had produced approximately a small section (20/30 second-ish) of processed music using recordings of sounds taken from around the campus. Following this we shared and mixed the different sections together and the result can be heard here!:
For saying the students had experience using Digital Audio Workstations but had not composed electroacoustic works before, all of the student did a fantastic job in producing this collective work!
Well done to all involved! A fabulous effort!
