Found Noise: experimental drawing & painting

23 January 2019

This workshop explored sound, object and mark making with everyday objects and gestural drawing/painting. The workshop culminated in a large, expressive and responsive sonic-visual work produced by the group with paint and everyday objects.

This workshop was a collaboration between sound artist Emma Margetson, The Barber Collective and The Barber Institute of Fine Arts Learning and Engagement Team.

The Barber Collective Exhibition:

 * Interpret | Re-imagine | Create *

24 May – 2 June 2019

“Celebrate the second year of the Collective’s activities as they share their interpretative, artistic and inventive making skills through a variety of techniques in this exhibition”.

Featured within this exhibition are a series of experimental gestural drawings / mark-making works which were produced by the group during the workshop in response to sound.

The Barber Collective is a collective of young people (16-21 years) who meet every Wednesday from 5-7pm. The Collective reinterprets the gallery’s collection, working with contemporary artists, dancers, designers and musicians to create original artwork, exhibitions and content.
